I never thought I would live to see something as nice as Starmax, built in Gaffney.

Me either. So many places going out of business it hard to imagine anything being built right now.

Our county's population will start decreasing soon, that is except for the senior citizens. Hopefully they are enjoying retirement, and don't have to move to find work. Although, I wished they would donate a third of the time they give to civic groups and church, to the betterment and growth of Cherokee County.

I don't know about that. The ones we have are all run like crap, and the residents are mistreated. Believe me, I know.

I agree, even though I know some really nice nurses that work at a few of them but they are far and few in between. There are not enough staff members and they have so much to do they don't have time to really take real good care of their patients the way they should. They do take good care of the ones who have regular visits because the brown stuff will hit the fan if they don't but for the patients that don't have family they are SOL! This doesn't even take into consideration the nurses that are in the wrong field or just don't care!

Maybe temporarily. But in the long term, I think we're in for serious growth. The U.S. population is projected to increase by 50 percent by 2050. That's a lot of new people and they have to live somewhere. With Cherokee County's perfect positioning on I-85 and it's location between Atlanta, Greenville, and Charlotte, I think we will have a lot of growth after the recession is over. The Spartanburg Community College Cherokee Campus was one of the brightest moves I've seen around here. We have to be optimistic, things will eventually turn around (they always do). There have been 11 recessions since 1948. This too, shall pass.
