Ahhhhhh.....Those basic fundamentals of driving that people seem to forget. An officer has to do SO much paperwork on an accident, as Sniper has seen. During times of driving, 3 things can ALMOST assure that a person will not be in an accident:
1. Slow Down 2. Keep a safe distance 3. Pay "freakin" Attention (Stay off the d**n cell phone, unless you have bluetooth)
Currently, there are no laws that ban cell phone usage while driving in SC. That is currently under review. However, if an officer observes inattentive driving due to the operator's preoccupation with an item(s) inside the vehicle, the officer can stop the vehicle and issue a citation. [Driver To Exercise Due Care, Sec. 56-05-3230, $188.00-$237.50]
I enforce this heavily when I am working.

Turn on headlights when wipers are on or at dusk. Use turn signals when turning or changing lanes.

My last shift was ok, but of course I had to work a wreck 15 minutes before time to get off work.

People can't seem to drive in the rain or the sun for some reason.

I am sometimes amazed at the lack of common sense driving skills that "some" people use.

My family and I was going through town after church and we passed a young lady brushing her hair. She had a brush in one hand and what appearded to be a hair clip in the other one. Now let me see her car was rolling and both hands not being on the steering wheel let me see how was she driving. One only knows I'm just glad I got out of her way.

Does not surprise me. That is one of the disadvantages of being in a marked car. People hide stuff like that from me. If I ever get an unmarked cruiser, LOOK OUT!
