I don't speed anymore, except maybe on an interstate. And that's only because in many areas (such as entering Atlanta), if you don't speed, you about get run the hell over from behind.

The only speeding ticket I ever got was 53 years ago at 1 am going thru Royston Ga. I was a mile out of town going 60 mph. The police said I was still inside the city in a 35mph zone. HAHAHA! THEY GOT ME FOR $13.75. It was all the money I had. I've never been in that town since. To hell with Ga! HAHAHA!!!

I read that article too and I must admit I did not know of any speed traps....but the article did mention that the speed limit on I-85 drops down in Cherokee County for just a few miles and then goes back up. Hate to say it but I don't even know where that is..!

The reason the DOT reduced the speed limit in that area, is because it ranks #6 in the nation's most deadliest roadways.

what mile-marker does the speed limit change at? Been on the interstate a gazillion times but I can't figure out what stretch of highway this is. But then I am the driver always putt-putting along in the right lane letting those trucks go by [and irritating those drivers who want to go 80mph I'm sure!]

Just catching up with whats going on. I don't feel that Gaffney is a speed trap. I have been here for 15 years and the only thing I noticed was there might need to be a few more of the 30 mph speed limit signs posted throughout the city. But if people would just simply pay attention driving instead of "phoning" or looking off into "space", they might just notice what the speed limit is or that "L.E.O." that is blue-lighting them. Now that I think about it, there needs to be a speed limit sign at the Palmetto Bank on Limestone St. going into town. On the opposite side of the road it is 35 going to Thompson Park. But at that exact spot at the bank side going into town it should be posted 25 mph. Check it out for yourself. My wife and I travel through there a lot. I told her she was speeding and she "fussed" right back that she wasn"t. Lord behold when she found out I was right. But seriously, there needs to be a sign posted there.

LOL! Thats funny about your wife.....I will let the Mayor and City Administrator know about that area....
I laughed hard the other day at the "Speakout" article someone wrote about us Police Officers being proud of our jobs. Some person said this because when they are on their way to work, they see people pulled over on E. Frederick St. alot. Well, to that I say..."yes" we are proud of our jobs. AND, I would suggest that more people be proud of their jobs, so they will leave on time for work, so they DO NOT speed excessively in the City of Gaffney. If they will do that, I will PROUDLY not have to get out of the car, endanger myself, to issue a citation, and they will not endanger the folks who may be walking along the roadside or on the side walk, not to mention the other motorists. I wish people would just stop and think before they write such senseless garbage.

I try to remind my wife and others that the city-wide speed limit is 30 mph unless posted. To be safe , just go 30 mph. That is through town. I agree that people should take some pride in their job, but most nowaday only care for that paycheck. Nothing more and nothing less. Or it seems to me thats the attitude I see. In this economy people ought to be grateful to be working and not on unemployment.
