I take this law to mean that if a "gun-free" zone is created, they the persons creating the gun-free zone must provide security for all those in that zone. I also take it that if it is not a gun-free zone, we can carry as we see fit...although the only time I'm really armed is when I'm working on the farm and I have my 22 loaded with shell shot for snakes... Can you have a concealed weapon in you auto...ie, in the glove compartment or under the seat...must it be in plain view? Occupied and unoccupied vehicle??? If you do not have a permit to carry a concealed weapon, can you carry one openly, in plain view, anywhere but a gun-free zone??? I remember back in the days of the Gaffney strangler, many females were carrying guns in their purse...no one would admitt it, but they did...you could buy a snub nose 32 around here, they were all sold out...LOLOLOL

It has to be in the glove box or trunk from the way I read it. NC it has to be in plain view.......I found that out the hard way.

I wish we could get reciprocity with Georgia; then I'd be good to Clearwater, Florida.

Recep for what mojo??? We have recep for fishing liscense on border lakes and rivers with Georgia, but not NC...which is a real pain in the butt on lake Wylie... I don't know about the gun laws...like I said, my guns really don't leave my place, so I haven't checked it out...that's why I'm asking. Occassionally, I take my 22 fishing with me to other ponds...same reason..snakes...just want to know where I need to keep it in the vehicle...I normally just wear it around my waist...in plain view...once I'm in the boat, it goes into my tackle bag.
On one of the ponds I go to we have killed rattlesnakes, copperheads and water mocassins around the boat ramp...so I normally take my 22 to that pond now...

Hey Bubba, where did you kill rattlers at ? S. C. or georgia? I usually cary 45 with me when fishing. When I was in the nat. gard, guys would get rattlers & gators for pets, bring them home to gaffney, they grow too fast and big then get thrown away. I figured this conduct would lead to population in this area, wouldn't you think?

Tate, my friend keeps his boat at a farm pond...about a 50 acre pond. The jon boat just sits on the ground, on the bank of the pond. On several occassions when we were sliding the boat into the water, we have found snakes under the boat. The last time we found snakes, there were two mocassins under the boat that we almost stepped on...big suckers at that. I killed them with two boat paddles. From that point on I've takem my 22 pistol with me...8 round revolver with every other round shell-shot (or rat shot as some call it). I've killed a number of snakes with it. I have no idea why you need a 45...unless you are expecting snakes with legs. The 22 does the job.
Last year was a bad year around the farm for snakes...I even posted the farm saying that we have killed a large number of copperheards, especially around the pond. Did not see that many this year...actually, saw no copperheads this year at all...still saw lots of king snakes, black snakes, water snakes...etc.. Only killed one mocassin. BTW, I kill every snake I see and then figure out what it is. In fact, I killed a king snake at the church last night....with a mop handle...
