Yesterday I heard a squeaking sound coming from a cabinet in the living room. I haven't been in this cabinet in years because it had VHS tapes and pictures. So I open the door to see a small snake eating a small mouse. I shut the door back and told my wife to get dressed because she had been sleeping on the couch. I went to my spare room and grabbed two 5 gal. buckets. Once back in the living room I opened the cabinet door and grabbed the snake and put it in a bucket. He dropped the mouse when I put him in the bucket. I set the bucket on a stool and started cleaning out the cabinet. After two trips the trash can by the road I was done with the everything under the cabinet. I checked on the snake and he had eaten the little mouse. So I showed my parents what we had found and I let him go in the woods. Below are two of the shots I took of him. Small corn snake with a mouse.Striking at the camera did nothing for him.

Geeze-lueeze!!! Just now saw this one. I'd have a dang stroke! I know your wife's glad you got that 'outta there........... Well, you do live in the country, don't you? It's a good reminder, though, for anyone living anywhere to go thru stored back items and kinda like have a spring cleaning every now and again. Outdoor shops are particularly suspect for these kinds of intrusions. Not a bad idea to regularly apply snake repellent to shop or basement or even attic areas.

Our neighbor's Grand dad mowed the pasture next to our house and stirred up a nest of copper heads. I had put a sticky paper down in front of my side door to catch a lizard that was playing peek a boo in and out of the house, well, I caught the lizard half in a baby copper head in front of my pantry. They were both stuck! Thank you Lord! I closed up the gaps under the doors in a hurry!
