I've heard a lot of talk about gas prices doubling under President Obama. That is a fact. It is also a fact that gas prices doubled during President Bush's Presidency, but they do tend to leave that out.
So, here's my Jack Frost Nostradamus prediction of 2012: gas prices will continue to rise, no matter WHO is President!
You say "drill, baby drill," but the fact is there are THREE times as many rigs in U.S. fields now as there were when Bush was President.
Why then are prices rising? Well, the big reason, is that even though there are currently more rigs than ever before, production has NOT risen. Why is that? IT'S GETTING HARDER TO FIND OIL!!! To put it another way, we're GONNA RUN OUT (eventually)!!!
Supply and demand dictates that since demand is increasing, and supply is not, then the price will go up.
Therefore, regardless of what old Newt says (and I thought he would have known better), no President is going to be able to bring prices down much, or for long.

@.99/gal in my area but the better deals will be where it is that plus .03 off at certain stores. Hoping it will come on down.....fast. Would like to take a trip somewhere on a long weekend. Walmart ought to give us that .10/gal off an already lower price deal like they did back during the winter. ;D ;D
