Well, it's May 2011 and the Republican field is starting to line up... The Democrats will obviously nominate President Obama.
Newt Gingrich - Egotistical, but smart. Lot of junk in his closet.
Herman Cain - No money, no name recognition. Too quick to speak his mind, often controversial.
Gary Johnson - Who?
Fred Karger - Yeah, right...
Andy Martin - Who?
Jimmy McMillan - Who?
Ron Paul - The only Republican candidate who sticks with his beliefs no matter how much he is criticized from both sides (and he is often right). For that alone, I would vote for him, just as I did in the Republican primary in 2007.
Tim Pawlenty - Executive experience, fair name recognition.
There will likely be a few more additions, such as Mitt Romney who has not formally announced.

Mitt Romney is in... polls show him as the leader currently. Surprising, seeing as how he was the Governor of such a liberal state, and signed that health care law which is not all that different from the one Republicans have been raising hell about for years.

Mitt Romney is currently leading the polls in every early primary state, including South Carolina. Here Palin is second, and Cain and Gingrich are tied for a distant third.

Gingrich's campaign manager, senior strategists and key aides in early delegate-selection states all resigned today... He's toast, I'd say.
(UPDATE):
Every single paid staff member from his Iowa team has resigned.

Gee whizz ... what's not to love about Rick Perry? He's been on both sides of almost every issue ... take your pick! He's one of those "opinion de'jure" types of liars politicians. I can't understand why so many folks have gone and hitched their wagon to Perry ... have they not looked at his record? He started out as a Southern democrat and worked to get Al Gore elected, but luckily failed! He passed legislation in Texas to force parents to get their daughters vaccinated for HPV ... he's been for and is now against illegal immigration ... was for and now against gay marriage ... as I said ... He's been on both sides of almost every issue! I definately don't trust that RINO Romney ... he's about a beady eyed weasel with a slick hair doo!! Bachman? She ain't got a snowballs chance in hell of getting the nomination, liberals hate successful, attractive conservative women. Ron Paul? Great fiscal and social conservative, BUT ... he's a nut-job where it comes to foriegn policy. Newt??? Great ideas but too much baggage! We need someone with cast iron chajonie's who won't compromise their core principals. Someone who will stand their ground and reign in this out of control government and put this nation back on the road to prosperity by getting out of the way of the free market and staying the hell out of our personal business!! BUT WHO? ? I dang sure don't see anyone in this current field of candidates who fits that bill ... so WHO? Jim DeMint For President!!!

I like Jim Demint too, but it doesn't look like he is available!
At this moment, I absolutely don't know who I would vote for if the election were today!
Sounds crazy to say, "We need more choices," but I do. Too many running that I don't like.
Can I jump in here and ask again, Why is my avatar not working? I put the url for it on my profile.

I had hoped against hope that Paul Ryan would pick up the mantle but ... ain't happening. DANG FLABBITT !!!WASHINGTON - Republican Paul Ryan firmly ruled out a 2012 U.S. presidential bid Monday, ending another round of speculation the congressman would make a late leap into the race. The Wisconsin representative had been one of several possible candidates urged to jump into the 2012 Republican race by party insiders unhappy with the current crop of candidates for the right to challenge Democratic President Barack Obama. Despite repeated denials of interest in a presidential bid, speculation about Ryan's candidacy grew in recent weeks amid media reports he was reconsidering his stance. "I sincerely appreciate the support from those eager to chart a brighter future for the next generation," Ryan said in a statement. "While humbled by the encouragement, I have not changed my mind, and therefore I am not seeking our party's nomination for president." www.newsmax.com/InsideCover/Ryan-Declines-2012-Race/2011/08/22/id/408224

IF I had to vote right now...I'd vote for Romney. Even with his negatives I think he's intelligent and capable. He's had experience in the 'real' world and I think he would surround himself with good advisors. I don't agree with every decision he's made in the past but as President he would have the benefit of experience and leading. His past is well documented with no hidden records. He's self-confident but he's not arrogant. I don't think Romney would feel a need to posture, point fingers or whine. And last of all he has what we call manners and would not embarrass the office of President. As for VP I don't know who he might pick.....

I just may have to settle for him too, since I think Perry may be a little wishy washy.....maybe I shouldn't say that because I haven't heard of Perry until he thought about running, but he has dabbled in both parties....hearing he had something to do with Gore, is enough to scare me. Don't know enough about him.
Ron Paul is out for me......although I'm not saying he is wrong about everything....just can't see him in the White House. But of course, he's not the only one in the past who has run.....that I thought that about.
Bachman is out for me, simply because I don't think she could handle that big job, on the spur of the moment problems and foreign problems, and etc. Of course I could be wrong on all counts.
Some of them may be waiting until it is too late to dig up skeletons, to announce they are running.
