Rat Snake. My wife caught it twice with a stick and let it go. She isn't afraid of snakes neither is my daughter. I have taught the the different in vemonous snake so they don't mind handling the non-vemonous ones. Chicken lot is pretty peaceful now the the white leghorns are gone.

Snakes just look evil to me. My neighbor went in her kitchen one evening and there was a copperhead lying infront of her kitchen sink. Talk about surprises. No suprise to mei, it was in the fall of the year but still warm enough to keep doors open. Only thing about that was, she didn't have a screen door at the time, just the outer door. She got a good tight fitting screen door after that incident. Just think, the snake was just being curious but not wanting to miss out on a good chance of a place to curl up during the winter. Kitchen cabinets, closets, hampers come to mind as good places to wait and surprise somebody.

The chickens seem to be doing much better with fewer means ones in the coop.

I'll never forget our mean turkey. Every time we'd go outside he'd fly up and attack us, especially my daughter (who was about 5 years old then). One day he caught me in a bad mood, and I had a broom in my hand...

My wife got two Polish chickens today. She named them Thing One and Thing Two which does suit them.
